Toss or Keep No. 1: Foundations and Bases

Taking a leaf out of Rae’s sensible tree, I decided to do a “Toss or Keep” as well, rounding up all of my tinted bases to see which ones I could probably do without. Also, to remind myself that I don’t need another foundation, for crying out loud!

I have tinted moisturizers and foundations, BB Creams, etc. but I didn’t include my illuminating tinted primers, such as the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfecter and the Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Tinted Complexe, since I would never wear those alone. Even with dry skin, I find them to be too glowy if not paired with a base with more coverage—because of this infernal heat!

My current base count is: 11.

Which, all things considered… I don’t think is that bad. Of course, if you compare this number to the typical beauty v/blogger, it really isn’t too crazy, but I don’t know any sane person who would compare their stash to that of beauty v/bloggers. So… I still need to work on dis.

Bases-2

It’s still a lot, so I’m paring stuff down. I’m currently dedicating the rest of my January as well as February to using my Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation and the MAKE Soft Focus Foundation. I already know that I love the Ellis Faas Skin Veil*, the NARS Sheer Glow, the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint, so I shall be keeping those. I’ve decided to pass on the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum to my friend Liana, because as much as I liked this, I found that I didn’t really use it because the scent is a bit strong.

I think I’m keeping the Ellana Loose Powder Foundation* but I’m not sure about the bareMinerals Original Foundation. I really, really, really love it but it makes my skin itchy when I sweat. (It’s probably the bismuth oxychloride, I’ve gathered from Googling “BAREMINERALS FOUNDATION ITCHY.” #science) So, I think I’ll probably use it up and just not repurchase.

I’m not particularly attached to either the Happy Skin ZZ Second Skin Creme or the Graymelin CC Base Cream*, so I feel like I should probably pass them on to other people, too, but I want to make sure that I don’t like them enough to keep before I go do that.

Anyway, I know this seems like a lot but I actually really find them all to be great bases… Am I crazy yet? I love rotating products, so cutting out products that work well for me is so not fun. I think I have to remember that the goal here is to just find a great base that works best for me, even if there are other products out there that are good, too.

I’ll tell you the actual crazy part: I have been finding so many bases I want to try. I’m ridiculous.
